I originally bought the $199 Haier 32-inch Haier L32D1120 32-Inch 720p LCD HIGH DEFINITION, Black buying low-priced choice. That TELEVISION was actually great, but had a critical flaw regarding my goal: I must use this with headphones to avoid waking the baby next room, and the Haier’s audio system don’t let down when the headphones are connected. Amazon’s effortless returns process put me back looking for a fresh set, so I pounced on this Sharp when it had been $50 more.
I expected a better picture, better connection, and some more features provided the brand name and greater price. However, I also knew that inside a sub-$300 720p set, I couldn’t be prepared to be impressed.
All in most, I’m pleased, but teetering on the edge associated with returning this, because I really am quite underwhelmed with all the picture high quality. I possess two other TVs : a 55-inch Panasonic Viera Plasma installed via HDMI, and a 46-inch Samsung 1080p LCD installed via coaxial cable to a remote Plate box. I installed this Razor-sharp via the identical coax set up, so my expectations were to get a good SD picture, which I am aware to be far below a real HD signal on the good display. Here is the rundown:
PROS:
Price
Connectivity greater than adequate : although I only need coax today, I can easily foresee using this in an even more complex setup in the future
Inputs are on the rear with a few privately (Haier put them on underneath, which produced no feeling)
Intuitive menu and effortless setup
Assembly on the stand (and disassembly from it) was far easier than my samsung, whose engineers made a decision to bury the screws within deep caves on the rear real estate
Speakers let down when headsets are connected (and there exists a separate choice for disabling this permanently if you would like, which I would suggest if you use it having an A/V radio)
Easily wall-mountable (I would recommend monoprice supports for fantastic value)
CONS:
underwhelming picture – I tried in order to optimize picture settings, but it ‘s still nowhere near the SD high quality of my Samsung, even permitting some good thing about the doubt on the size and price difference. It’s pretty good enough which i think We have a substandard unit, but just bad enough to irk me.
TV will not swivel on the stand : head-scratching omission there by Razor-sharp, but still no big deal
Menu – occupies 85% with the screen, right in the center. And in contrast to on Samsung, there is not any way to go it, or ensure it is translucent. That makes it tricky to modify video settings while trying to see the effect of your own changes
So although I am aware I’m researching two high-end 1080p sets to a budget 720p, I do use a pretty near comparison with two units receiving the identical standard definition signal. I could keep it because it’s not a horrible picture, but it’ll probably irritate me for a time. If I were to do it above, I’d probably watch for another lightning deal (or the more rare Vizio package on woot).
UPDATE:
I endured through 20 minutes of creating small adjustments, then exiting from the menu so i could see the effect, and repeating this technique. I could get several adjustments done while pausing the show when a face, some multi-colored item, and several black areas were at the edge with the screen (so i could see something meaningful while the menu blocked other screen). I now have better skin tones and a less hazy picture. Still not quite the samsung standard def picture, but it’s not supposed to be at this price. I’m today totally satisfied at the price I paid. The product itself is really a four-star product, but offers five-star worth at $250. I today recommend this.
