Asus 1215B-PU17-RD Black Friday Slaes : I received my 1215B yesterday, and quickly browse the manuals, then booted up once plugging in. Overall impressions are as follows:
Pros:
It appearance nice. The red exterior feels swish, looks like it’s some texture, and isn’t overly ostentatious.
The battery life is pretty stellar (figure at least 7 hours if you are frugal with backlighting, wi-fi, etc.)
The keyboard is nice, and fits my hands decently enough for daily of typing (I’m vi feet tall)
It’s quite lightweight, and has lots of options that you already know about (USB three.0, bluetooth, solid APU graphics performance for 1080p videos and lightweight games, etc.)
You already grasp the specs, so here’s what I found to be problematic once I got mine:
Cons:
The fan makes a loud buzzing noise (much louder than the fan on my quad-core laptop). must be an inside issue, I assume that the fan is hitting one thing.
The charger doesn’t always charge the battery once I plug it in. sometimes i will get a message within the battery icon that claims “plugged in, not charging.” It’s rare, however to a small degree scary. Makes me think that the adapter or affiliation might go at any minute.
And, last however under no circumstances least, the touchpad is ridiculous. i’d have expected Asus to recall their product by currently, as a result of this can be a standard issue with the 1215B. Basically, it should finish off at any point. i do know some reviewers haven’t had any issue with it, however I will say that it showed up on the primary day of use with my machine. Thank goodness I had an external mouse to plug in.
All in all, this can be a very capable machine when it works, and that i enjoyed outputting 1080p videos and also the general background through my 24″ desktop monitor for to a small degree. As far as quality goes, the 1215B that I got was pathetic. I’ve already scheduled for a come back to Amazon, and will order an added once I get my a refund. If that model has any problems, i will come back it, and simply have to alter the very fact that netbooks don’t seem to offer what i would like simply yet. i will update this review once I get the second 1215B; hopefully following one will not be so glitchy.
